Global Medical Training @ VCU
Organized by: Madhuri Prayaga
Event Name: VCU Broad Street Mile 2016
Global Medical Training is an international organization aims to provide free medical and dental care to medically deprived countries around Central America. Our chapter here at VCU sends students abroad to these medically deprived countries to helps set up these local clinics. We provide basic medical and dental training to the student before they embark on their journeys and once there, they get hands-on clinical experience helping doctors asses and treat patients that come to these clinics. Not only is this an amazing experience to get unique hands-on clinical experience but to also learn about public health issues around the world and provide aid to those who need it the most. These trips can be hugely life-changing since they truly make us understand the struggle and obstacles others have to overcome to receive basic care and make us appreciate the privileges we have as well as make us even more committed to helping balance health disparities around the world. These trips are funded completely by the students themselves so funds raised would be put towards their trips as well as buying necessary medical supplies to run these clinics. Please consider donating to our organization to help support an amazing cause!
