BENEFITING: GREEN MOUNTAIN ANIMAL DEFENDERS
Did you know that over 10 billion cows, pigs, chickens and other farm animals are slaughtered each year in the US and during their short lives, they endure horrific acts of cruelty such as, castration and dehorning without anesthesia? Their suffering is too often overlooked and our walk hopes to raise necessary awareness. Green Mountain Animal Defenders (GMAD), a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) non profit is holding a Walk For Farmed Animals on October 3rd in Burlington. Supporters will walk 3 miles to raise awareness for these animals and to also raise much needed funds. The funds raised will be used to address future farm animal cruelty and/or neglect cases. Last year's funds were used to transport bull to sanctuary, rescue dozens of chicks, support rescue goats, and help repair a sanctuary's tractor, a vital piece of equipment for caring for farmed animals. Can we count on you? We understand that many of you are not vegetarian or vegan, but there are many choices we can each make every day that can greatly reduce suffering. We hope supporting us in this walk will be one of them.
