BENEFITING: PILSEN NEIGHBORS COMMUNITY COUNCIL
EVENT DATE: Oct 07, 2012
GMC is made up of leaders and organizers from two of the strongest grassroots organizations in Chicago Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, and the South Suburban Action Conference. GMC works with religious congregations, community organizations and agencies in metropolitan Chicago to address the ongoing crisis of youth, immigration reform, healthcare, access to transportation, workforce development, and education.
Our mission is to develop new community leaders through building networks of “core teams” and alliances with other community groups to build an organization capable of responding to issues of education funding reform, economic development, civil rights of immigrants, universal healthcare, and workforce development.
Pilsen Neighbors Community Council’s Fiesta del Sol Guadalupe A. Reyes Scholarship Program has celebrated over a decade of awarding scholarships to Latino students from the Southwest side of the city and beyond. The Scholarship Program has given over $700,000 in scholarships to 450 students. This year the GMC Maratonistas will be running the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon to fundraise a scholarship that will open to African American and Latino who are first time college students and or undergraduates that live in the Chicago Metro Area
With this support we will be able to provide a scholarship to student in need!!!
