Jacob Caliri is beginning a battle with cancer.
This March, a suspicious lump near Jacob’s right temple was diagnosed as osteosarcoma cancer. To date, there are still many tests and unknowns ahead, he and his family are just beginning this journey.
That’s tough on anyone. Tough on any family. But this is the part really bites. Jacob has autism. This magnifies the complexity of testing and treatment.
Deviations from his routine and unknowns require Jacob to summon herculean courage and bravery that many of us or our children wouldn't have to endure.
If you talked to Jacob today, he would charm you with his love of movies and musicals. He uses the film dialogue to entertain or communicate emotion.
He loved Ely choir, band and theater, and found welcoming friendships there. Jacob attended the Ely, Minnesota public schools from grades 3 through 11. Everyone cheered him on during his epic performances.
Well, people, this one is for his life.
It’s time to pull together Team Jacob. We now have to cheer him on from the sidelines and send him the prayers and thoughts that will help him summon the strength to jump into the ring facing cancer with superhuman strength.
Cancer isn’t our only nemesis, financial burden is steamrolling down the tracks as well. Join Team Jacob and consider helping this young family so the locomotive train of medical costs and care don’t crush them on top of everything else.
We’ll keep you updated here on how it’s going and what’s happening.
