On March 24, 2015, my little brother, San Jose Police Officer Michael Jeremiah Johnson, was shot and killed while responding to a suicide call. Mike lived life big. Mike was captain of the chess team at our high school, he held a black belt in jujitsu, he travelled the world, he dove with great white sharks, he was an accomplished and decorated marksman. More importantly, he loved his family and friends with his entire, big heart. In May, Mike's sacrifice is being recognized during Police Week in Washington D.C. as his name is added to the National Police Memorial. I am running in the National Police Week 5K to honor his big life and his big heart. I am also running to raise money for the Officer Down Memorial Fund and C.O.P.S., (Concerns of Police Survivors) an organization that has given and continues to give my family tremendous support. Donations in any amount would be a "big" deal and are greatly appreciated.
