Hello! Call me stubborn. Call me stupid. Call me crazy. But it just did not sit right with me to leave you all hanging after you backed me in this Crowdrise campaign! Plus, I knew that whatever issues I would have to deal with during the marathon would pale in comparison to the struggles that people with anxiety and depression who go without proper treatment must deal with each and every day.
So, after not having run since 9/6, I decided to "go for it" on 10/2 - toe issues and all (see updates)! And while I did not get the time I wanted (my quest to finish in under 4 hours lives on!), I did learn some great lessons in mindfulness - and acceptance! ;) And magically, in letting go of chasing 4 hours, I found that I really enjoyed the run - at least until mile 14! ;) And in the end, I can say that I finished my 5th marathon and still managed to stay in the "4s" at 4:55:20.
On behalf of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and all the people it aims to help, I want to say thanks again to all of you for your support!
