Every four years we get to watch the Summer Olympics on television for about a 2-week time period. But what goes on, for example, between London 2012 and Rio 2016?  Let’s introduce three amazing athletes who have been training for three and a half years in the sport of target shooting.  All 3 will be representing the United States in Rio de Janeiro this September for the Paralympics. Their ages are different; their backgrounds are different; their disabilities are different, but the one factor they all have in common is a lack of funding to prepare them to compete at their highest level in Brazil.  The United States Olympic Committee funds all USA Olympic/Paralympic sports through corporate and private donations, they do not receive any government funding.  With your help, these athletes will be able to train overseas with, and against, the top athletes from around the world.  They have a World Cup competition this March in Thailand. In April they will be attending two competitions during a single trip to Germany and Poland. They also are planning to attend a two-week training session in Germany during the month of July.  All of these trips are necessary to increase their chances for success throughout the Paralympic Games.  Here are the athletes that have qualified.  Rifle ~ Jazmin Almlie-Ryan, Texas; McKenna Dahl, Washington; Tammy Delano, New York
