BENEFITING: Kids Cancer Alliance Inc.
In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year. Approximately 1/4 of them will not survive the disease. A diagnosis turns the lives of the entire family upside-down (ACCO.org). As many of you all know, this summer I was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer for the Kids Cancer Alliance at Indian Summer Sibling Camp. I got to spend a week with a group of amazing children whose siblings have cancer. Indian Summer Camp gives the children an opportunity to go fishing, make arts and crafts, play games, go swimming (at 7 am!!!), play with water guns, make lifelong friends, and for once forget about the burdens of cancer and just be kids. I was shocked how just one week with these kids could change my life forever. For a glimpse inside of a week at Indian Summer Sibling camp, check out this blog: http://iscsibs.blogspot.com/ For the entire month of September, I will be raising money to support Kids Cancer Alliance in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Kids Cancer Alliance provides children with experiences and support that they may not receive elsewhere, FREE to those children and their families. All money donated will go directly to Kids Cancer Alliance in order to fund scholarships for survivors, host family and teen weekend retreats, provide quarterly events for children with cancer, and accept every camper that has the desire to attend their yearly summer camp. My personal goal is to raise $700 for the 7 wonderful boys I got to meet and spend time with this summer at camp. Any donation (no matter how small), will be greatly appreciated. Everyone who makes a donation will recieve a card, a gold ribbon (to help spread awareness!!) , and a HUGE thank you. This September, I am ready to spread awareness and join the fight against cancer. I am Gold Ribbon Ready... are you? #KickCancersButt #FTK
