For the third year in a row, Gainspeed is entering a 12-runner team in the Golden Gate Relay (GGR), "California's Longest Party." The GGR is a 191-mile relay run starting in Calistoga and passing through Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Palo Alto and Silicon Valley before ending in Santa Cruz. It will take the Team Gainspeed approximately 36 hours to complete the journey.
The GGR benefits Organs R Us, a non-profit organization that promotes organ donation through athletics.
There are 125,000 Americans waiting for a life-saving organ donation. Each day, 20 die before a donor can be found, and another 80 are added to the wait list. During the relay, the transfer of the baton from runner to runner symbolizes the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient.
Please help Team Gainspeed meet its fundraising goal and raise awareness of the gift of life.
Did you know that a single organ donor can save up to eight lives, and that a single eye and tissue donor can save or improve the lives of up to 50 people? This means a single organ, eye and tissue donor can potentially impact the lives of 58 people!
Discuss your wishes regarding organ donation with your family and register online to be an organ donor.
