BENEFITING: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
ORGANIZER: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I am happy to take the baton from my brother Shawn and run the Boston Marathon this April 20th. It is something I wanted to do since I started running back in the late 90’s. Shawn ran for Golf Fights Cancer back in 2010 and 2014 and thanks to a friend of the family and one of the founders of the charity, Brian Oates, I get to continue the great work Shawn has done in years past. I am thrilled to not only run what many consider THE marathon, but also to raise money to help fight a disease that takes away way too many lives.
There isn’t a family that hasn’t been affected by cancer - including my family. We all know someone, or might even be someone, whose life has been changed. Over 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. It would be great to live in a world that was cancer free!
Golf Fights Cancer has been doing great work for more than a decade having raised more than $3 million since 2003. GFC makes directed gifts that are specifically targeted for equipment, services or projects that make a tangible impact in the fight against cancer. I am proud to help them help find a cure. I appreciate any support you are able to give to help fight this horrible disease.
I know 26.2 miles will not be easy, but it’s not as hard as what a cancer patient goes through on a daily basis.
