BENEFITING: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
ORGANIZER: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Running the Boston Marathon has always been on my "bucket list" but truthfully I've doubted that I could handle the winter training and 26.2 miles of hills and heartbreak. A number of things pushed me to decide that this is the year. I'm going to give this my best shot and I hope you'll support me along the way. Here's why I'm raising money and running the 2015 Boston Marathon.
To Fight Cancer- Cancer is relentless. Like so many of you, I'm surrounded by it. I've lost friends and family members to the disease. I myself was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at age 33, and spent the majority of 2014 feeling horribly sick trying to recover. There is no greater fear than wondering where Cancer will strike next. I'm running because running makes me feel stronger and braver by the mile and raising money eases the helplessness. I am mother, wife, and a runner. I run because I couldn't always find the strength to run when I was sick last year, but now that I can there is no stopping me.
Golf Fights Cancer is doing amazing work and I'd like to help them help more people and fight for a cure.
Golf Fights Cancer is an organization founded in 2004 on the principle of friends helping friends whose lives have been touched by cancer. Over the past decade, GFC has raised over $3 million in support of cancer related charities and research, making 27 dedicated grants to 19 organizations, through its marathon and golf events. I am honored for this once in my lifetime opportunity. I am determined to do my part from now through April 20th and I would be most appreciative for any support you are able to offer to help fight a disease that has affected all of us.
