BENEFITING: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
ORGANIZER: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
There is an adage: “This isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon.” At bottom, the point is that a marathon is a physical and mental ordeal that leaves even the elite athletes scratching and clawing to get past the “wall” to reach the finish line.
Comparing the fight against cancer – both on an individual and collective basis – to a marathon makes the marathon look like a walk on the beach. Fighting cancer is like having to run 2 marathons a day, day after day, week after week, year in year out. The goal being not a finish line but Life.
I am running in memory of my Grandmother who was one of the toughest women I ever knew, had an indomitable spirit and still lost the battle to cancer after a long life filled with sacrifice, dedication and love for her family. I run also in honor of Maggie Wunderlick, Doug Clark, Clay Rogers and Jennifer Williams who have gone to battle with cancer and have shown incredible strength, perseverance, and grace. You all inspire and amaze me.
Please make a donation to GFC today. If you do, it will make a difference. You will help GFC help those who so bravely persevere and fight cancer every day and also support those people who are working to find a cure reach their own finish lines in a “personal best” time.
Thanks for your support,
