BENEFITING: THE SHIELD OF DAVID INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 17, 2012
I’m still running!
Many of you know that the New York City marathon was cancelled on November 4th, 2012. This is not going to stop me from running 26.2 miles for the Shield Institute. I decided that wanted to continue fundraising and run a different marathon. So on November 17th, 2012, I am running the Charlotte’s Thunder Road marathon. I will push through 26.2 miles on the picturesque and genteel streets of Charlotte, North Carolina.
I have run many races for myself over the years, but this time I decided I would run for something important to me: to raise money and awareness for the Shield Institute. The Shield Institute supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through educational, clinical and habilitation programs in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and the greater New York area. The agency also promotes the arts through a specialized art studio and gallery that serves artists with disabilities, called Pure Vision Arts.
I have worked for the Shield Institute for seventeen years, and feel such a sense of pride about the how this small agency has impacted the lives of so many people. So it only seemed fitting that I should run each of the 26.2 miles of the Charlotte marathon in support of such an important force for good. Please support me as I run through the beautiful streets of Charlotte to make a difference.
