Dear friends and family,
I am extremely excited to announce that I have been blessed with an incredible opportunity to serve on a mission trip this July to the northern villages of Nicaragua. I will be traveling with a non-profit organization, Corner of Love Ministries, who are based out of Maple Valley, Washington. This organization was started by the Amador family, who have dedicated the past 15 years of their lives to improving the impoverished areas of the Matagalpa region. Elizabeth Amador, a close childhood friend of mine, is leading her first young adult's trip this summer. After witnessing the passion of COL's work over the years, I feel incredible honored and inspired to serve alongside this family and the other volunteers that have been called to do so.
On this mission trip, our team will be traveling to various villages that live on less than $1 a day to provide medical, dental, and eye care. Our team will be working alongside volunteer doctors and dentists that come from all around the world to address the needs of the villagers. The clinics we run are extremely important because these rural areas have no potable water supply and no available doctors for treatment, leaving most infected with parasites. The distribution of anti-parasite medication and other basic over-the-counter medicines are some of the key parts of every patient's visit.
At the time of this trip, I will be a recent college graduate from Boise State University. I have recently received a Spanish Minor alongside my Finance BBA, and having spanish-speakers on this trip to work as translators is crucial. I feel as though this opportunity couldn't come at a more perfect time, and being able to utilize my degree in such a rewarding way is more than I could ask for.
I have already started saving and planning for this trip, but I am sharing this with all of you for your help and support so that I can make this trip possible. I am striving to meet a goal of $1,300 that will cover a portion of my mission trip costs, including the med-packs that we are required to bring in our luggage (one meets the medical needs of up to 600 impoverished Nicaraguans). Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of those less fortunate, and will allow COL to continue to serve the people in this little corner of the world. If you are not able to contribute financially but are still interested in donating, we are accepting other items that we can pack in our luggage and distribute at the clinics.
Other Items in Demand:
- All types of unexpired OTC medications and RX meds
- Dental hygiene items, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.
- Baby items, such as powder, washcloths, wipes, etc.
- Toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.
- School supplies, such as paper, pencils, markers, etc.

I encourage all of you to visit CornerofLove.org for more detailed information on all projects COL is actively participating in, as well as to view the full list of items we accept as donations. Thank you so much for your time and contributions, I am already so excited to be going on this trip of a lifetime. Stay posted for updates and I can't wait for all of you to see how our team has impacted this part of the world.
