On August 14, 2015, my dad, Ron "Gonzo" Gonzales died from complications surrounding a massive heart attack. While he does have some minor death benefits, we're unsure of whether they're going to cover the cost of cremation and death certificates, let alone allow us to have a celebration of life. And this has come at the worst possible time -- my mother is currently unemployed and relied on my father's monthly SSI Disability benefits, which she will no longer receive as she is not over 60 years old. Her unemployment is in contention by her former boss, so she has literally no income at the moment, and has rent, a car payment, and general living expenses. All funds will go to me which, in turn, will go to my mother. Some of it will be used for final arrangements, some of it will be used to disperse his belongings (title transfers, etc.) and some of it will be used to keep my mother from being homeless, as she has to continue her search for a job while grieving her husband of 31 years. Thank you for reading this, even if you can't donate. Please spread the word -- this didn't exactly shock us but we didn't have any time to prepare, financially, and we're kind of desperate.
Edit: The cremation has been paid for, the celebration of life is over with. Now we're trying to keep my mom from being homeless. And me, to an extent, but mostly my mom. Both of us are looking for work, but until then, we're gonna keep this fundraiser going.
