I recently published a full-color, photo illustrated book of end-of-life poetry, a 54-page paperback titled Good in the End. In addition to donating all of my author's royalties from the retail sales of the book on lulu.com to Hospice of the Chesapeake (where I work and volunteer), I have launched this CrowdRise fundraiser to make it possible for people to gift one of more copies of the book to hospice patients and their families in our care at Hospice of the Chesapeake's Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center on our John and Cathy Belcher Campus in Pasadena, Maryland, USA.
It's very simple. You make a secure, tax-deductible donation right here to Hospice of the Chesapeake which will be used to cover the cost of one or more copies of the book at $10/copy. Hospice of the Chespeake will obtain the books through me at my author's at-cost rate and will then put them in the hands of some of the more than 600 hospice patients, and their families, who are in our care at the inpatient care center each year. You will have the option of being identified as the donor on a label in the front of the book.
A preview and review of Good in the End can be found on Lulu.com. I have set the modest goal of raising $1000 in this CrowdRise campaign in the hopes of raising enough money to cover 100 copies. The $1,000 includes $825 for the books at the at-cost rate, plus shipping and handling and the very reasonable CrowdRise admin fee. Thank you very much for considering supporting this project. Your gift of a book is a gift of comfort and inspiration at the time it is needed most!
