In Guatemala, countless rural families use traditional cookstoves, which are little more than indoor open fires that produce toxic smoke every day. This creates a myriad of problems, including severe health effects due to the smoke and the children's inability to access education because of their full-time job of collecting firewood. But new cookstoves for these families can help change this situation and lead to a brighter future. Last year, I was part of a group of high school voluteers who traveled to Guatemala to build cookstoves for rural families. After having experienced the environment firsthand and witnessing the effect these cookstoves can have, I am determined to help more families lead healthier lifestyles. I am especially excited to work more with Good Neighbors as they introduce their new third generation Good Stoves that are more efficient, portable, and less expensive. Please help me by donating to my goal of reaching twenty more families with Project Cookstoves.
