THE STORY:

Thank you for wanting to know more about us!

Good Shepherd Coalition is entering our 23rd year serving the needy Families of Southeastern Michigan. More and more we are seeing needy families are not strangers but our neighbors, family and friends. We reach out to these families with emergency clothing, food, transportation, financial assistance, and access to counseling.

The Good Shepherd Coalition is registered with the IRS under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization.  We are funded through local churches, fundraisers, and donations.

The Good Shepherd Coalition (GSC) has formed partnerships with community-based organizations and agencies to assist people in need in Southeastern Michigan. The Good Shepherd Coalition, in cooperation and collaboration with local churches, organizations, and social services agencies, assists families to achieve greater self-sufficiency. Through love and compassion, GSC demonstrates our faith in action by providing food, shelter, clothing, medical, and other basic needs to transform lives. GSC Resiliency Program is designed to empower low-income families through nutrition programs, budgeting classes, family advocacy, resource support, and social outreach. GSC in a hands on approach works with families who have the means to securely sustain, but have been in a cyclical pattern whether it be through system dependency or generational dependency.

We believe that all people should have access to fair housing, utilities, and basic human needs; such as food, and essential health.

We provide social service resources to help foster hope and determination to clients.  The coordination of these resources mean more at-risk households may strive to escape the effects of poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and substance abuse.

GSC works within the community; assisting families with emergency needs and on-going concerns. Through continuous education our staff seeks new ways for growth and the ability to empower ourselves and our community. We are unique in that we have the ability to work cohesively with agencies and faith-based organizations to do the most good for others through a pooling of financial and service-based resources.

Our donators and community-contributors afford us the ability to be seen and utilized throughout Southeastern Michigan by those in need. We embrace our capability to bridge the gaps families and individual come to face from time to time. Hardships are not biased. Over the past several years we have help well over 2500 families facing homelessness, lacking basic needs: food, water, warmth, or shelter to recover from crisis.

It is the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals like you that allow us to make changes in the lives of those in need. Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about GSC. We are so appreciative to be a long-standing catalyst for positive change and hope within the community.

Now that you have greater insight into our worthy cause, please help us to continue working with those in need. We welcome you, your organization, church, or business to become a community-contributor for hope!

Thank You,

The GSC Staff
