The Solen Goodheart Community Center is located in Solen, North Dakota on Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Established in 2002, the Center is indeed the central meeting place and location for community activities in and around Solen. The Center houses a Thrift Shop featuring clothing, furniture, home décor, and baby supplies; hosts a monthly bible lesson and fellowship; as well as serves many community needs, such as the winter coat give-away and other holiday and community celebrations.
Serving the most basic of needs, during the winter months, the Center also provides simply a warm place for those in the community to gather. However, this year, the Center’s very old heating system is no longer functioning properly and desperately needs to be replaced. This is a critical need with winter just a few short months away. In addition to those who come to stay warm, the consequences of not replacing this heating system will be devastating for the Center’s also fragile plumbing system.
The cost of replacing the unit is $7494.00.
Several churches in the Bismarck area, as well as a sister church in Maryland have come together in hopes of raising money to meet this urgent need. This is an opportunity for you to help too!
If you would like to help, you may make any donation right here through Crowdrise (takes about 30 seconds to make a donation)—only a very small percent of your donation (about 5%) will be taken for administrative costs. If you would like for 100% of your contribution to go to this cause, you may also write a check (offline) directly to (please note “Solen Heating System” on your check):
Prairie Family Church
500 Remington Ave
Bismarck, ND 58501
(Pastor Robert GreyEagle)
New Hope Church, Brunswick, MD
(Pastor Amy Clark)
If the goal is exceeded, any additional donations will go toward the purchase of propane for the Center’s use.
