BENEFITING: GO Project Inc.
A student who does not read on grade level by the third grade is four times less likely to graduate from high school on time. Add poverty to the mix and the student is 13 times less likely to graduate. Today, only one half of New York City students in third grade meet state learning standards and 78% live in poverty. Without the right intervention at the right time, today's struggling students have little chance of making their high school graduation day.
The GO Project is working to change these statistics through an award-winning early intervention education program, which serves students in K-8th grades and their families. Close to 90% of GO students live in poverty, and over half of students have a special education classification. GO students attend some of the most under-resourced public schools in NYC, and as a result are not receiving the individualized support they need to succeed.
At GO, certified teachers and dedicated volunteers work with students one-on-one and in small groups. Each student at GO receives an individualized plan designed to bring them up to grade level, get them into a great middle school and high school, and put them on the path to college. GO also works closely with families, to ensure that parents and caregivers are engaged and active in partnering for their child’s academic success.
The GO Project model is built on the strength of long term partnerships with independent schools who fully donate resources and classroom space to GO, allowing for a lean and efficient cost model that keeps overhead costs low.
By donating to the GO Project today, your support goes directly to the students and families who need it most. Your gift will help struggling NYC public school students succeed at school, at home and in life.
