The GO Project shapes the futures of low-income New York City public school children by providing critical academic, social, and emotional support, starting in the early elementary years.
We provide year-round educational and family support services to 610 children who are performing below grade level and equip them with the confidence and skills needed to succeed at school, at home, and in life.
The students we serve are from the Lower East Side and Chinatown. When they enter the program they are, on average, 1-2 years behind their peers in reading in math. 88% are eligible for free or reduced lunch (a federal indicator of poverty), 49% have a special education classification and 50% attend a high need public school.
By the time students graduate the GO Project in the eighth grade, 98% promoted on time to the next grade, 85% are performing on grade level, and 100% are accepted into one or more of their top choices for high school.
All of these achievements are proven indicators of future high school graduation, college acceptance and continued success.
By running for the GO Project in the 2016 NYC Half Marathon, our team is hoping to raise $12,500 directly benefiting our programs.
