Gordon's fight to breath
Organized by: Wanda Panchou
My husband, Gordon was given 2 days to live when taken to May Clinic in Jacksonville Fla., 19 months ago. He was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertention,(PAH). This is disease affects the lungs & heart makibg breathing nearly impossible. He was put on an experimental medication on 10-30-14. There was only a 50-50 chance it would work & by grace of God it did. This is a terminal illness as there is no cure. He is also on high litre flow of Oxygen 24-7. It also causes his body to retain fluid & he has to be admitted to Mayo Clinic ICU for Congestive Heart Failure where he is given heavy doses of Iv diuretics to drain fluid. This also makes breathing extremely difficult I mix his medication & it has to be changed every 24 hours. This medication is the only thing keeping him alive. Due to this illness, it has taken every penny we had saved. Whole in the process of trying to find out exactly what was wrong he was seeing a cardiologist & then a pulmonary Dr in our area. The co-pays, tests & different expensive medications depleted our funds so fast! We are barely getting by at this time as the every day expenses, insurances, medications, food, gas, electric, water etc. continues to go on. We are both on disability & our only income is disability pymts. The amount we recieve each month combined is only $2180. There are times when we barely have funds to get gas for our vehicl to take him to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. We have never asked for help before but it has gotten to point where we have to. If there is any way to get financial help, it would be greatly appreciated!
