Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Medical
Organized by: Jorge Lopes
EVENT DATE Oct 12, 2014
A few months ago my son David nearly died because of a previously undiagnosed Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and other complications that resulted as a consequence. Had it not been for the amazing medical team led by his awesome surgeon Dr. Kerry Bergman and the fantastic care that he received at Goryeb Children's Hospital this story may not have been a happy one. During the 11 days and nights that David spent in the pediatric unit at the hospital, I was deeply impacted by all the sick children being cared for at this wonderful institution. I want to use my running of the 2014 Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 12th to raise funds for a donation to this world class children's hospital.
All donations will be given towards the following hospital need:
Pediatric Inpatient Unit/Joan and Edward Foley PICU Expansion – An increasing volume of patients in the general 26-bed pediatric unit and in the 9-bed Foley Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has necessitated expansion. The pediatric inpatient unit will add an eight-bed unit – all private rooms – and dedicate approximately four beds in the current unit for epilepsy monitoring. The PICU will add three single patient rooms, with accommodations for caregivers, private baths, and state-of-the-art connectivity for viewing x-rays and ultrasounds as well as TV, internet and gaming. $3.5 million needed to complete this project.
