Grace Given Year
Organized by: Stefanie Abrams
When tragedy strikes who will be there? The truth is there may be many people supporting those in need at the beginning but as a month or two passes times start to feel a bit lonely again but there is still a need to be filled! I have done this before and it worked beautifully. Supporting a family that faced tragedy due to death and loss of a young father and husband of two small children. He left behind his wife and two young daughters on New Years Eve many years ago. The more I got to know this family is when I realized the poverty stricken state they were living in. 1 plastic fork and 1 plastic spoon to share as a family and one pot to cook with. No beds to sleep on in their apartment and very limited toys and household goods to make it feel like home. Therefore, I started a project to support their family for 12 months and provide anything that this woman and her children needed, first and foremost and then always provided holiday wants to her and the children. This experience was the most amazing journey not only for this incredible woman and her kids but for all of those people whom I worked with to volunteer their money and time to support her each month. This donation fund will go directly to supporting other families in need who are faced with challenging times. Enduring suffering is a part of life but we are all called to serve one another and this is how I would like to spend my time! Please know that there is always a longer term need that often gets missed. Who can really adopt a family for a whole year? I know it can be done as it has been done for a family before! I want to bless more families knowing there is more LOVE in the world that what can be seen in an instant within our daily lives. It's there, we must all band together to be the ones who LOVE more and with intention to those we desire to help. Desire to Desire to want to be a part of this great cause. Each new family will receive support for an entire year! It is known as the Grace Given Year. Everybody needs a little grace. Be the one to provide--your heart is in the right place and our love and service will not go unseen.
