My name is Eimy Prado. Three years ago my mom made a huge sacrifice when I first came to study here with my sister after we graduated from high school. We're from Venezuelan and lately because of political and civil issues it is really dangerous to go back. Last year was my brother's turn to come. It is a really huge deal to come with an student visa because of the paper work. It is a sacrifice we had to do because in Venezuelan we are in danger (people get kill just because of a phone, or even worst). We haven't been able to go back since 2013, we are here just by ourself and sometimes it is kinda hard to grow and look forward without any help or support. In Venezuela we have a different currency, to get dollars we need to go through a long process to "buy" money. Since last spring my mom lost her job in Venezuela so she hasn't been able to send us money to pay our tuition in St Thomas University. As internacional students we are not able to work outside, so we found this job in library that has help us with food and we are been moving on with different friends that have been letting us to stay with them. The money we make is not enough to pay a rent. They university had been allowing us to keep studing without paying the tuition, but this year they denied us because it is so much money that we owe already. By the end of this week we need to pay $25.000 because we owe 2 semesters already. We don't want to go back and lose our visa after everything we have been through. My sister and I should be graduating by next December, we have a really good gpa (3.7) and an scholarship but it doesn't cover the whole tuition. We also joined the cheerleader team to get more schoolarship. We really want to get graduate, but if we don't pay by this week we are not going to be able to stay here and we are going to lose all those classes (86 credits) we already take because we haven't pay it and we are going to have to go back to venezuela and actually we don't even have the money to buy the airfare in that case. This wille a mean a lot to us because as any other young adult we hope and want to graduate and after everything we have already done for this goal to happen its a really huge help for us.
