Grandma Pretty's Cancer Fighting Fund
Organized by: Melodie Eve
Our loved one, Julie (aka Grandma Pretty) was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor April 2016. We were all completely shocked that the dizziness she was experiencing wasn't just a little case of vertigo. Three days after discovery, she underwent brain surgery to have as much of it removed as possible. To our dismay, the biopsy came back that it was indeed cancerous. We were all completely heartbroken.
Although the surgeon was able to remove a mass the size of an orange, there still remains portions of cancerous tumor, that they were unable to remove via surgical interventions. Doing so would have had too poor of a neurological impact.Unfortunately, this type of cancer, a rare Stage 3 malignant glioma, isn't cureable and doctors say its a type that likes to keep growing. This means that there will have to be many interventions ahead to keep this situation under control and maintain Julie's quality of life.
The first treatment is 6 weeks of Radiation, starting May 31, 2016, for 5 days per week, followed by a repeat MRI. Her case is a little more complicated than average due to the other medical conditions she has and a variety of steps need to be implemented to keep the benefits greater than the risks of her treatment. Since this type of cancer requires longterm treatment, costs will be very high. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket medical fees are already piling up, and quickly.
Any support amount you can bless Julie with, is greatly appreciated during this extremely stressful time. Your generous contributions will directly ensure that she continues to get the best possible care available, as well as assist in offsetting some of the many costs that this unexpected challenge brings with it. This way Julie and her family can fully focus on kicking cancer ass, without dragging around a huge financial load.
Grandma Pretty and the entire Rohde Family thanks you for all the love, support, well wishes, and prayers! ❤
