Grandma's Place began in March 1998 as a small grassroots organization in rural Loxahatchee, Florida providing long-term foster care to children with developmental disabilities. The organization then moved to Royal Palm Beach in 2004, and changed its focus to meet the community need from long term foster care for children with disabilities to providing emergency foster care to children who have been abused or neglected, and subsequently removed from their own homes by Florida Department of Children & Families. The Emergency Shelter Program provides 24 hour a day, 365 days per year emergency shelter care to abused and neglected children in a loving and nurturing homelike environment.  In 2017, Grandma’s Place once again expanded to meet a pressing community need, by adding the Family Support Program, providing education and training, mentor support, and emergency, night and weekend respite care to families who have a child with a developmental disability.
