Fundraiser this Monday, June 13th!
June 10, 2016
Cheers and welcome to our fundraiser! We are a group from Colorado who are going on an expedition to climb the Grand Teton of Wyoming. This amazing mountain represents so much to us. First, all mountains encapsulate a beauty that is pure and unwavering, while presenting us with unique obstacles that are sure to challenge us both physically and mentally. The Grand is a mountain unlike any other in the United States, sitting at 13,770 feet of elevation it is a mix of dramatic cliffs, rock ledges and mountaineering challenges that are sure to push us to our limits and beyond. All trip logistics and planning will be done by Trek Mountain Co. out of Golden, CO (www.trekmountainco.com). Trek Mtn Co is a company that believes in everyone finding the best version of themselves through adventure, travel and new experiences. They also believe that if you have the opportunity to go on an amazing adventure you should, in turn, give back to your supportive community in the process. This is where Big City Mountaineers comes in. Big City Mountaineers transforms the lives of under-served urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. They partner with community-based youth organizations and caring adult volunteers who act as mentors in the field to help young people realize their potential. Their curriculum improves integrity, self- esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills in close to 1,000 youth annually. BCM has a proven track record of improving young peoples’ lives with:
• Increased likeliness to stay in school
• Reduction in violence
• Reduction in drug use
So... we are using our trip as a way to raise funds for an amazing organization in the hopes of improving our community and showcasing the GRAND spirit that the outdoor (especially the mountaineering and rock climbing) community has. Finally, mountains do not just represent climbing and challenges. They represent the landscape for our self-cultivation and self-discovery and we would love to pass that on to the youth of our communities. We ask that you help us in our efforts.
