Who runs the world? Girls!
Tuesday, March 8 is International Women's Day and at One Simple Wish we want to celebrate by making wishes come true for some very special young women.
Funds raised today will make the following wishes come true:
A new bike for 7 y/o Skylar
Skylar and her brother have been in care together for about a year. They recently had to move from their foster home in a hurry and Skylar had to leave her beloved bike behind. She’d love to have a new one to enjoy in her new home, a potential adoptive placement!
A beautiful silver and red ring for Autumn
Autumn is a very shy, quiet young lady who just moved into a group home for girls. She was recently removed from her biological home and had to change schools and leave everything familiar. She is struggling to feel comfortable in her new surroundings. Autumn would really like a red ring in size 9. She described one that she saw some time ago and has never forgotten how beautiful she thought it was!
A tutoring session for 17 y/o Nyasia
Nyasia is a 17-year-old young lady who is both bright and ambitious. She has been in care for several years now, but has not let that stop her from pursuing the life she wants. She works very hard, even working two jobs during the summers. She has also been an advocate and role model for her younger sister, who lives in a different foster placement. Nyasia hopes to go to college next year and become a social worker so she can help others in need. For most of her life, Nyasia struggled with reading due to undiagnosed dyslexia. Once the dyslexia was discovered last year, her whole life changed. Nyasia's resource parent has been providing funding for the sessions out of her own pocket, but is no longer able to afford the cost.
