Hi! The last weekend of November, I will be running in the Grassroot Soccer Seattle 1/2 Marathon (after UW Women's Soccer advanced into the Semi Finals :)) The aim is to raise money for Grassroot Soccer, an adolescent health organization which leverages the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize at-risk youth to overcome their greatest health challenges, live healthier lives and be agents for change in their communities. Although it will be a challenge for me to run this far (I am a GK), I will be especially motivated by the excitement of knowing that it will benefit such a worthy cause.
I am asking friends and family to consider sponsoring me for this event. I have two goals―first to complete the 13.1 mile run, and second to meet my personal goal of raising $1000.00 for Grassroot Soccer. I would greatly appreciate your kind consideration by making a donation toward this goal. All donations are, of course, tax deductible.
GRS Charity Team runners raise funds to support the implementation of Grassroot Soccer’s innovative youth development curricula in communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. Every $3,000 raised supports the delivery of our soccer-themed life skills programs to 60 at-risk adolescents. Through their innovative approach, Grassroot Soccer is empowering youth with the knowledge, skills and support they need to make healthy decisions and transform the course of their lives forever. GRS has graduated over 750,000 youth from their programs.
I have heard about GRS from many folks, but recently have become a much more active member. Our UW Soccer Team is hosting a GRS Charity event on Oct 4th, 2015 to help raise awareness for this organization.
You can make a difference...please join me in supporting a very important cause.
Thank you for your support!
