On November 29 I'll be running the Seattle Half Marathon--with my three brothers-in-law (Rob, Doug, and Dave Adams)--in support of Grassroot Soccer.
The goal of the Grassroot Soccer Seattle Marathon Team is to empower 2,500 young Zimbabweans. Every $25 we raise helps one more child live a healthier life, access critical health services, combat gender-based violence, stop the spread of HIV, and gain self-esteem through playing soccer.
Although my minimum commitment to GRS is to raise $1,000, the Adams brothers and I have a personal goal of raising $10,000 as a familiy to support 400 young people in Zimbabwe. The GRS Zimbabwe program is one of its flagship sites, and it includes the FIFA Football for Hope Centre in Bulawayo, a community hub where young people receive health education and access to services. At the Centre and throughout communities in Zimbabwe, professional soccer players and role models are providing critical support and mentorship to tens of thousands of youth each year. With your help, GRS can reach 2,500 more in the coming year!
