Grassroots Nepal Relief Fund
Organized by: kailey-Jean clark
After 2 weeks spent falling head over heels for the remarkable people and culture of Nepal, I found myself in the middle of katmandu when a 7.8 Earthquake devastated the region. Against the advice flooding in I have decided to turn down the gracious urgings from the US embassy to be evacuated to India. With all that Nepal has given me, it doesnt feel right to leave in this time of need. I’m in the privileged position of being a westerner here in Nepal and as such have a large number of friends and family back home and around the globe who are comparatively wealthy next to the Nepalese. I plan to remain in nepal for the next 2 weeks working on grassroots effots to give immediate aid, and then return to the US where I will be riding my bicycle from New York to San Francisco to contintue fundraising for the Nepal disaster relief.
**NOTE: Donations raised here will will be used for immediate grassroots aid only, more information on the cycle fundraiser to come***
While relief money floods into to larger NGO's, there are still numerous small villages that have been completely cut off, are living without shelter in constant rain, without any influx of aid. We plan to collect as much money as possible in the next few days from donations and buy clean water, food, tarps and emergency supplies and deliver it ourselves to the areas around the epicentre most affected and where national and international aid has been slow to reach. We aim to cut out the bureaucracy, time and uncertainty of where donations go amongst large charities and to deliver help as quickly as possible.
In a country where $1 could supply a family of 4 with food and water for a day-- EVERY BIT HELPS
Thank you for all the love and support that has been pouring in, It means more to me than I can say
