BENEFITING: GRASSROOT SOCCER
ORGANIZER: GRASSROOT SOCCER
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Well, this is my third New York marathon, but my first time signing up so last minute. I recently completed a half ironman and surprised myself by still being able to function afterwards, so, why not keep the momentum going for 26.2 more miles on November 3? As most of you know, I recently joined Grassroot Soccer in a full time capacity, 10 years after I interned for them in Zimbabwe. I've joined at an exciting time, and I couldn't be happier helping the organization in its quest to improve health outcomes for at-risk youth across Africa.
As this is quite last-minute I'm not expecting to raise huge amounts, but if you can throw in a few dollars to help this great organization, and to help drag me over the finish line, I'd really appreciate it.
This is our fifth year as an Official Charity Partner of the ING NYC Marathon, and to celebrate I'm proud to join Grassroot Soccer's 75-strong team of athletes running to fight HIV and AIDS on November 3 in New York.
Grassroot Soccer has graduated over 600,000 youth through our HIV/AIDS education program and is on track to reach 1 million youth by World Cup 2014.
If you prefer, donations can also be made offline by mailing a personal cheque. Cheques can be mailed to: Grassroot Soccer, PO Box 712, Norwich, VT 05055. All offline donations will be added to the online page to reflect the full total.
