Greenville Tech Charter High School Students in Action
July 25, 2017
BENEFITING: Greenville Technical Charter High School
The Greenville Tech Charter High School Students in Action team is beginning it's third year of service to our school and community. The students started this team in reaction to losing three parents to heart related trauma in one school year. The group banded together and trained in Red Cross CPR, enabling them to train the students and faculty at our high school in American Heart Association Hands Only CPR. The team continues to train students and faculty each year and also trains community groups and church groups. The team serves in many capacities: providing disaster relief for Syrian refugees, food and cleaning supplies for Hurricane Matthew victims, clothing donations for the Guardian ad Litem kids who often leave their troubled homes with nothing but what they are wearing.
This year's education focus is on prevention of drug use and depression. Through awareness and education the students want to make their little part of the world a better place. The team is also planning a Career Connect Conference for area teens focusing on underserved students. Of course, Students in Action will be jumping into action as challenges occur in our community this year.
Money collected will go to the year of service ahead. We invite you to donate $5 and receive a Shop for a Cause Saving Pass for the August 11-13 weekend.
