The Story

EVENT DATE: Nov 30, 2017

EVENT DATE: NOV 30, 2017

Join women across the southeast in the lovely tradition of fun and philanthropy!  Part girl power, part holiday giddiness - we will mix, mingle, eat, and drink - all in the spirit of helping our local community.  Hosted by Virginia Crews and Brooke Clayton.

Each year on the Thursday after Thanksgiving, a group of girlfriends hosts a cozy, women-only cocktail + nosh party supporting local nonprofits. What better way to kick off the season of giving than with a holiday party with a purpose? This year, there will be a handful of Giving Parties happening simultaneously in the Southeast! This speaks volumes about the power of women, as our generosity of spirit and checkbook create a meaningful impact in our communities.

What is a Giving Party?

Giving: verb to share what we have with others through our time, expertise and/or financial resources.

Party: noun a social gathering of invited guests, typically involving eating, drinking, and having fun.

Greenville Giving Party: A cozy, feel-good event of the season that ushers in the holidays. Girlfriends gather to mix, mingle, drink and donate to support local charitable organizations. Part girl power, part holiday giddiness, all altruistic, we Give Until it Feels Good!

Herstory: You’ve probably been invited to at least one “sip and shop” party in your life. You know, drink wine, look at candles/jewelry/clothing/cookware/marital aids, and purchase stuff that you may or may not want or need. Who doesn’t love a good candle/outfit/fry pan? Well, in 2007 some big-hearted gals in Chapel Hill keenly thought perhaps they could put an interesting twist on this shopping party concept and do a little good locally at the same time. So they gathered up some fun, creative, do-gooder girlfriends and launched the Giving Party that November.

Since then, girlfriends have gathered in cities like Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Durham, London, Charleston, Mill Valley, Calif., and Vancouver, to support local nonprofits at Giving Parties.

Now  10 years, 12 cities, 86 organizations, 2,200 guests and $364,000+ later, the Giving Party continues the holiday do-good spirit in Greenville Party!

We invite all of our girlfriends, serve wine and tasty food, and ask representatives from favorite local non-profits to share the work their organizations do. Our guests can make a donation to any, all, or none – there’s no pressure and the giving is anonymous. The point is just to give and have fun doing it!

Over the years and across the nation and beyond, nonprofits have raised friends and funds at these Giving Parties. Most importantly, connections have been made, volunteers have joined causes, and we love raising a collective glass across the miles to celebrate how easy, fun and fulfilling it is to give.
