Less than two weeks until I'll be returning to New Jersey to ride in the Gran Fondo NJ, which begins in Morristown. I plan to ride the Medio Fondo which is a 62 mile ride. Instead of just riding for my own delight, I have decided to put my legs to good use and fundraise for an important group, The Seeing Eye, which is based in Morristown, NJ. At a previous place of employment I often drove through the heart of Morristown, and saw the dogs that The Seeing Eye were training to help the blind and visually impaired lead more independent lives. When I saw that I could raise money to help others I was eager to do so.
Since 1929, The Seeing Eye has partnered with people who are blind who seek to enhance their independence, dignity, and self-confidence through the use of Seeing Eye dogs.
More than 16,000 of these specially bred and trained dogs have brought a new level of mobility, safety, and self-sufficiency to over 8,000 men and women.
If you have given, I thank you. If you haven't I challenge you to give, or ride the 62 miles with me.
