The Giving Tree Charities
Organized by: Eric Maher
The Giving Tree Charities FBO is an unofficial nonprofit who's mission is to pay it forward, while leading by example. In 2011, a friend asked for assistance buying a birthday present for their child, on social media. Having the ability to do so, we felt the need to step in and offer a helping hand. We purchased the gift and, upon shipping it, we included a letter to the parents. This letter stated that the present was from the parents and that we did not ask for any thanks in return. All we asked of the parents is that they pay it forward however they can. This instance is where the The Giving Tree had it's birth. Every year since, we have been holding a yearly drawing and assisting the chosen parents, of small children, with buying gifts for the holiday season.
The yearly holiday giveaway is really quite simple.
1. The parents must be experiencing financial hardship.
2. At least one child must be under the age of 13.
3. The family has not been chosen in past drawings.
It is anonymous, meaning we don't share the names of those who enter the drawing or the names of those chosen. In 2014, we received our first outside monetary gifts, from generous supporters like you, which assisted us in helping two wonderful families during the holidays.
Other possible avenues we may add in the future include:
Working with the local pediatric units, of local hospitals, to buy gifts for the children who are hospitalized during the holidays.
Adding a monthly giveaway for children's birthdays.
We are truly grateful for all the love and support that we continue to receive.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
