BENEFITING: GRASSROOT SOCCER
ORGANIZER: GRASSROOT SOCCER
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
Dear Family and Friends,
The ING NYC Marathon is truly a world class sporting event in the most dynamic city in the world. I've always felt connected to it. In 2003, my first job out of college was working with GMR Marketing, the sports marketing agency producing the event. Being part of the behind-the-scenes action over the race weekend sparked my desire to work in the sports marketing and events industry. Now, almost a decade later, I have committed to pay tribute to the event that got my career going and will be hitting the NYC pavement to run my first marathon!
Recently, I was introduced to the concept of entering the race as part of a team as a way to raise money for a cause. What better way to commit to the challenge of running the marathon than publicly proclaiming that I'm going for it! Please help me reach my fundraising goal. Come on, join Team Ailcia and help support a great cause!
Grassroot Soccer is in its 4th consecutive year as an official charity partner of the ING NYC Marathon! Their NYC Marathon Teams have raised over $1/2 million to provide HIV and AIDS education, testing a treatment to thousands of young people. Now Grassroot Soccer is moving forward with the official goal of reaching 1 million youth educated and empowered by World Cup 2014.
Marathon runners, like me, are key to helping us reach the 1 million by 2014 goal! With every step, every training run, every contribution they secure we are getting closer to an HIV-free generation!
