GS Troop Needs Medical Equipment for Elderly
Organized by: Troop 60819
HELLO! Our Girl Scout Cadette Troop # 60819, Central Coast California, USA; is currently working toward completing the requirements and being awarded our Silver Award by June, 2014. Our Troop is small; but we are MIGHTY and we want the MOORPARK SENIOR CENTER to benefit from our ROAR (with your help)!
Our Silver project guidelines require us to identify an organization within our community we care about; one where our areas of interest and the community needs may overlap. We then mutually decide on an idea, coordinate, participate and complete the project. Upon completion, the project must be self-sustaining. With great enthusiasm we unanimously chose to support the “Moorpark Senior Center Medical Equipment Rotation Program”. Since all five of us are in our early teens, we are of an age where we realize and have personally experienced first-hand our grandparents and our friend’s family members becoming ill and see their need for such equipment to facilitate and speed up their own recoveries. The rental or purchase of these various types of medical equipment is quite costly for Seniors who are on low income budgets or those without coverage.
We are raising money to purchase new and used medical equipment which we will donate to the Moorpark Senior Center. The Senior Center of Moorpark has a medical equipment rotation system in place which assists elderly individuals who cannot afford to purchase medical equipment. They sign out and borrow the medical equipment they need to help with their recovery. Once they are well, the healthy seniors return the borrowed equipment back to the Moorpark Senior Center for the next person.
After our meeting with the Moorpark Senior Center Coordinator, we targeted the items most needed by the seniors. Our funding will go to purchase new and used wheel chairs, rolling walkers, four pronged canes, shower chairs, crutches, and adjusting over bed tables on rollers.
We Need Our Families & Friends To Help – No amount is too little or too large!
Please take a moment to re-read our letter and look into your heart and take action to help us help our beloved senior citizens!
Thank you! From our heart to yours!
