Radiating Hope plans to send 2 radiotherapy machines to Guatemala to be used to treat cancer patients at a public cancer hospital in Guatemala City and we need your help to pay for the shipping!
Cancer is a leading cause of death in Guatemala and these machines are desperately needed. There are 16 million people living in Guatemala with 1 radiotherapy unit per 1.4 million people. This is far below the USA standard of 1 radiothreapy unit per 100,000 people.
All radiation therapy is in Guatemala's capital and largest city, Guatemala City. We are working with the Instituto de Cancerologia, where our partner Dr. Fuentes Gaitenbein de Falla is working on several initiatives aimed at advancing cancer care in Guatemala.
