New York City is one of my few favourite cities where I lived briefly. On 6th of November, I will run the 2016 TCS NYC Marathon. I am raising funds for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) whose good work I found out about through my dear friend Lina. As well as introducing me to many parts of NYC, Lina introduced me to the joy of an NYC style brunch. However, I learned that she had to make many compromises to be able to enjoy our weekly brunches without pain. She suffers from Ulcerative Colitis which is an autoimmune disease. Currently, there is no known cure but the illness is managed throughout the lives of patients. Unfortunate sufferers of the condition use heavy steroids, endure bouts of severe pain, hospital visits, and face a future of interveinal and invasive drugs. However the condition can also be managed with very strict diet, vitamins/supplements and exercise and little amount of medicine. The CCFA helps patients, young and old, to have a healthier future by supporting them for the day-to-day management of their conditions and also supports scientific research into IBD to create better therapies and cures. I hope that you will support CCFA’s work with your kind donations.
