EVENT: Gulf Coast Oil Spill Relief
WARNING - Video is very disturbing, but a truthful view of what is really going on. Please donate what you can to help with the clean up effort.
The National Estuarine Research Reserve System is raising money to support habitat restoration and other needs for the five National Estuarine Research Reserves along the Gulf Coast. These reserves face immediate impacts from the Gulf oil spill.
Our colleagues at the reserves are doing pre- and post-spill natural resource assessments right now. These assessments will help state and federal government understand the ecological condition of the Gulf estuaries and their long-term restoration needs. They're also getting ready for the direct impacts from the oil. The Grand Bay reserve in Mississippi and the Weeks Bay reserve in Alabama, plus our reserves on the Florida and Texas coasts NEED YOUR HELP NOW.
Your contributions will help us with some initial costs for sampling equipment, cleanup and safety supplies, and more. Funds will also be used to support direct cleanup efforts and habitat restoration. 100 percent of funds raised through this campaign will go directly to the Gulf coast for direct costs associated with the spill.
