On November 24th, 2017, I will run the Antarctic Ice Marathon with a team of special operators and committed patriots to support the The Navy SEAL Foundation.
The Navy SEAL Foundation provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. Support extends beyond the limitations of federal benefits.
As a retired Navy F-14 pilot, I know firsthand the quiet sacrifice that military families make to support those who guarantee our way of life. Every one of us sleeps under the blanket of security these warriors humbly provide – while they are anonymous warriors, they are also our sons, brothers, fathers, neighbors, and friends.
The Navy SEAL Foundation has always been there to support immediately following and long after a tragedy. Brian Hoke died in Afghanistan last year...not long after he ran last year's race on the Arctic Circle in Greenland. His widow, Christy, will join us on the run this year. My friend Sydney experienced the terrible loss of her husband in June – and the Navy SEAL Foundation was there for her on Day One, and every day since. These are just a few of our fallen heroes.
We are doing this race because it is a challenge worthy of those we support - the temperature at Union Glacier typically ranges from +14 to -4 degrees F) during the race. The travel and race entry costs are covered either personally or by Robert Vogel, a partner at Whitebox Advisors LLC.
Because this is not your typical 5K fundraiser...neither is our raise. Our goal is to exceed $1M - 100% of your donation goes to the Navy SEAL Foundation (a 4 Star charity in the top 1%). All in, all the time - Thanks for your consideration and support to the Teams.
With much gratitude,
