We are a group of ordinary people committed to an extraordinary goal. To create a year round camp and recreational facility for the kids of Ycs. This walk is a yearly reminder of our commitment and an opportunity to all come together and raise money for our goal. It is also an opportunity to be out in nature and be an expression of our context " To bring the healing power of nature to the children of YCS". We get to be together with the kids be outside and walk together in unity as an expression of our love and our commitment to there future...
Guy: In 2005 i met the kids of YCS and i saw myself in their eyes. After creating a Christmas party for the Holly House i decided i was going to make this a life mission to make a difference and better their lives. So i began the project to build a camp for them and bring the healing power of nature into their life. As a child I too was taken from my family because of abuse and neglect and lived for a time in the New Jersey child welfare system so I understand their pain and their sorrow. Thankfull i was saved and just wanna do what i can to give back and let them know someone cares. This walk is an opportunity to do just that and to support the ultimate goal of building a camp.
Wendy: Speaking personally, I was fortunate enough to have attended several summer camps as a kid, and they were the most vivid and lasting memories in my life. The kids at YCS have had major hurdles in their brief lives and I am volunteering my time to help make this camp a reality so they can experience their own memories that will help shape their adult lives.
Our goal is to raise a minumum of $2,500. we realize many of our friends live very far away so being at the event will be hard, but making a donation of any kind would mean the world to the kids and to us. If you live close - we would love to see you personally at the event, live music, entertainment for kids, a dog friendly group walk along the path, a raffle, and great food for purchase. We hope to see you at this event (bring your bike, the park is located on the most popular bike trail in Bergen County), and please make sure to donate/register even if you cannot make it.
Thank you for your support.
