Thousands of people will run in the annual 518 Race to commemorate the lives lost in the Gwangju Uprising that began on May 18, 1980. A group of expats also decided to create this fundraising page to raise money as a group to run for a cause, supporting UNICEF relief work in Nepal. From the UNICEF website:
"A devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake near Nepal's capital city of Kathmandu has claimed nearly 5,000 lives, caused thousands of injuries, and destroyed homes and infrastructure. Around 1.7 million children require humanitarian assistance, and UNICEF is on the ground working to provide critical aid to children and families.
When it comes to emergency and disaster relief, UNICEF is there for children—before, during and after a crisis."
Please support the runners of Gwangju and donate to support UNICEF's efforts. Nepal needs help right now. Every little bit counts.
