EVENT DATE Dec 15, 2014

The Gwendylion Project is an outreach program with the mission to help unite grieving families through their healing journey.  We share in this grieving journey, as 3 years ago we lost our daughter Gwendolyn, whose lionhearted spirit earned her the knick-name "Gwendylion".  We launch this project to honor her by offering families, like ourselves, a beacon of hope.

The Gwendylion outreach begins with our storybook that provides a tool for families to break out of the isolation of their grief, join together and begin a healing conversation.  We’ve found there are many materials aimed at helping each individual (for the Mother, the Father, Speaking to your Child…) whereas the Gwendylion is focused on the Family together.  The story identifies various feelings to help put into words what the fog of grief can make so difficult to express.  The stunning illustrations by Charles Ugas, snap the reader out of the fog with their vivid color and expression - providing a true example of how art can save lives.

Our goal is to provide a copy of the storybook to every family in need.  We plan to extend our reach through partnerships with hospitals, counseling centers, therapists, schools – wherever there is a need.  The plan for the Gwendylion Project beyond the storybook is to work with these partnerships to provide workshops in Art & Writing to encourage families to discover their own story and to establish a scholarship program for [medical students specializing in neo-natal care as the field is continually evolving].

This Crowdrise campaign covers the costs of producing a final draft of the storybook and advance copies to help us build these partnerships.  Our hope is to announce to on January 15th, 2015 that thanks to your partnership we have reached our goal of raising $5,000 and the Gwendylion storybook is in full production.

We are grateful for every donation and will include your name in acknowledgements page for every amount.  In addition, we would like to offer these gifts to show our appreciation:

  • $25: Your own copy of “The Gwendylion”
  • $50: Your own copy, plus signed cover art from Charles Ugas
  • $100: Two copies, plus signed cover art from Charles Ugas
  • $150: Five copies sent in your name to benefit the organization of your choice
  • $200: Two personal copies, plus Five copies sent to the organization of your choice

Please join us in our lionhearted journey to spread the Gwendylion message of hope and provide this unique tool for family healing.

Every day is a gift.
