Hi. My name is Carlos Arce. I study Computer Engineering at SUNY Binghamton. This project is based on a rainwater collection system which will be used for Hipolito, a communtiy in Iquitos, Loreto, Peru. I think this project is a great opportunity for two reasons: First, because it will get me more into the engineering field and second, I feel very proud of working on a project that will benefit a community in my hometown country.
Why is H20 For Hipolito Important to me?
I love doing engineering, and helping others who are in need as well. Aditionally, I am helping a community in my hometown country. I know how this and other communities struggle to keep things up every single day, this situation is familiar to me. I always believe that if you have the chance to help others, then you should do it because you might need help some day in the future as well.
What I hope to accomplish through Engineers Without Borders in this project?
This is my first year in EWB and I hope to build a strong relationship with the team I am working with throughout the course of the project. For myself. I find that if I am invested and interested in a project I put in as much effort as I can and I could not be more excited to work with EWB. This opportunity offers me a chance to expand my experience and build on my skills which I am eager to do. I feel that this specifically will help me build up my leadership skills which I know have room for improvement.
