Community Development

Donations will subsidize home repairs for low income families in the Warehouse District and Grant Park area of Downtown Phoenix. This Neighborhood Revitalization project will begin in Spring 2018 and serve families in Downtown Phoenix. Phase one will begin with the Grant Park Neighborhood; Grant Street south to Buckeye Road; Central Avenue west to Seventh Avenue. Families will receive new roofs, windows, HVAC units, plumbing and electrical repairs in addition to a paint or landscape job to beautify the area.

Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is an independent, locally run, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. We build affordable housing for low-income families in need of adequate shelter.

Habitat homes are built through partnerships.  Local governments partner through land grants and revitalization efforts; foundations, corporations and individuals partner through donations for home construction; collaborating agencies partner to educate our families on being first-time homeowners; and the general public and the future homeowners partner to build the homes together.

Families purchase the home with a 0% interest mortgage to maintain affordability. The homeowner makes monthly mortgage payments to Habitat’s “Fund for Humanity”. These proceeds can only be used for land acquisition or home construction; a reinvestment in future generations.

Habitat homeowners’ futures brighten due to a stable, healthy environment that provides space to live, to grow and to dream.  Communities blossom as neighborhood revitalization increases property values, stabilizes the workforce, lowers crime and fosters cooperation.
