BENEFITING: The Foundation for Faces of Children
EVENT: Paces for Faces 2016
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2016
Cameron was born with Pierre Robin Sequence with a wide bilateral cleft of the hard and soft palate. Right from the very beginning, Cameron proved to be a strong fighter. PRS is not a widely known condition, so it often goes either misdiagnosed or wrongfully treated. In Camerons case, the hospital we started with knew what it was, just not how to properly treat him. A month after he was born, we got a second opinion from the amazingly fabulous Dr. Mulliken which changed our lives. Just 2 days after meeting Dr. Mulliken and Dottie, Cam went in for his 1st of many surgeries. Since then, Cam has had 10 sets of ear tubes, several dental procedures and 2 years ago, Cameron had his 3rd surgery on his palate. Cameron struggles with his speech every day, but we have an amazing speech therapy team that is helping him make goals and reach them. Cam still has a long road ahead of him, but this kid does it with a jump in his step and a smile on his face! This is our 5th year in the Paces For Faces Walk and are looking forward to help raise money for this wonderful cause that is very near and dear to our hearts!!! Last year we raised $1,200!
