BENEFITING: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jun 28, 2013
This is a Multi-Purpose fundraiser where I give up my hair to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of my dear friend, Nichole Reaves. She was a vibrant 36 year old mother of 5 who developed Thyroid cancer. The most common strain of Thyroid cancer (papillary) has a 97% survival rate, but unfortunately, that wasn't Nichole's story. She had a very rare form that was resistant to the conventional radioactive treatments. The Dana Farber Cancer Institute has a clinical trial that treats the unique form of cancer Nichole suffered from. In fact, she was scheduled to participate in this trial last September. Unfortunately, she lost her battle weeks beforehand. Raising money for this trial in her memory is my way of continuing her fight. Your monetary support will help the Nicholes of the future.
The 2nd half of my Multi-purpose fundraiser benefits the Locks of Love organization. This non profit make wigs out of human hair for children who are going through chemotherapy. I'm donating my hair to Locks of Love in exchange for your monetary pledges. You can pledge by the inch, by a lump sum, whatever! (currently my plan is to donate 15", but I'd be willing to shave it all off if the price is right, lol). "Locks" rarely get donations for "ethnic" hair like mine so I'm confident that they'll put it to good use. Hopefully, my donation will also encourage others to do the same.
I've scheduled my donation for this Friday, June 28th. I will be updating my page with pictures (and hopefully video) of the big chop so please come back and visit..... and bring a friend!
These organizations are very important to me so I'm hoping to raise a ton of money. Thank you in advance for your support!
